Pretty in Mint

For Australian Fashion Week, Afterpay partnered with AFC to design and style a refined member lounge that reflected the brand’s elevated yet approachable identity. The space needed to feel welcoming and comfortable while still delivering strong visual impact in a busy fashion week environment.

Using Afterpay’s signature Bondi Mint palette, florals and considered branded touches, we created an immersive setting that balanced hospitality with brand storytelling. The result was a cohesive lounge experience that felt premium, relaxed and aligned with the broader event aesthetic, offering guests a calm space to pause, connect and engage with the brand.

What the client needed

Afterpay required a member lounge that felt warm, polished and on-brand within the fast-paced setting of Australian Fashion Week. The space needed to function as a comfortable seating and meeting area while still reinforcing brand presence in a subtle, non-intrusive way.

Key requirements included consistent use of Afterpay Bondi Mint, integrated branding moments, and a cohesive design language across all touchpoints. They also wanted soft styling elements such as florals, cushions and light tabletop details to enhance comfort and visual appeal. The overall goal was to create a space that felt inviting for guests, media and industry attendees.

The Afterpay Edit

We approached the lounge as a calm, editorial environment rather than a traditional branded activation. The intention was to let the space feel naturally immersive, with Afterpay’s identity woven in through colour, texture and considered styling rather than overt branding. Bondi Mint provided a strong yet soft foundation, allowing us to build a cohesive visual language across all elements.

We identified the arch media wall as the hero moment, using it to anchor the space while introducing depth through a mix of real and faux calla lilies. This allowed us to create movement and softness without overwhelming the design.

From there, we focused on layering restrained but purposeful details such as custom cushions and simple tabletop styling. We also saw an opportunity to introduce a light, playful moment through Funday x Afterpay sweets, adding personality while maintaining the overall refined aesthetic of the lounge.

How we activated

The lounge was brought to life through a layered styling approach grounded in Afterpay’s Bondi Mint palette. The arch media wall served as the central focal point, styled with a combination of real and faux calla lilies to add softness, height and visual flow while reinforcing the brand colour story.

Seating areas were dressed with custom Afterpay cushions, ensuring comfort while maintaining consistency across the space. Coffee and bar tables were styled with calla lilies and minimal accents to keep the look refined and uncluttered.

The inclusion of Funday x Afterpay sweets introduced a playful, guest-focused touchpoint that encouraged interaction without disrupting the overall aesthetic.

The stage area was kept intentionally simple, featuring Afterpay cushions, carafes and calla lilies to maintain cohesion while supporting functionality. Overall, the activation delivered a calm, elevated lounge experience that balanced brand presence, comfort and visual storytelling in a highly considered way.
